  • Olive oil:  1/4 cup
  • For topping, assorted nuts and seeds (e.g., sunflower seeds, sesame seeds)

For the pastries:

  • Puff pastry dough:  1 sheet
  • Fruit preserves (e.g., raspberry, apricot, or your choice):  1/2 cup
  • Egg wash:  1 egg
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions:

For the bread:

  • Dissolve the sugar in warm water in a bowl, and then top it with yeast. Allow it to rest until it becomes frothy, which should take about 10 minutes.
  • In the yeast mixture, add salt and olive oil. Add the flour gradually and stir until the dough comes together.
  • On a floured surface, knead the dough until it’s elastic and smooth.

  • Bake the pastries for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden and puffed.
  • Before serving, dust the pastries with powdered sugar.
