For the chocolate mousse:
- Semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped: 8 ounces
- Heavy cream, divided: 2 cups
- Granulated sugar: 1/4 cup
- Pure vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
Chocolate icing:
- Semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped: 4 ounces
- Heavy cream: 1/2 cup
- Unsalted butter: 2 tablespoons
Topping:

Instructions
Prepare the chocolate cake:
- Adjust your oven temperature to 350°F or 175°C. Take two 9-inch round cake pans and grease them properly.
- In a large bowl, sieve together the sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Mix them properly.
